Super Bowl Sunday

Today is the big game… Super Bowl XLVII. 49ers v Ravens. Coach Harbaugh v Coach Harbaugh. Do I care who wins the game? I don’t. I’m all about the commercials! Honestly, I have no idea what “first and 10” means and couldn’t spot a bad call by a referee if you paid me. Funny…my husband just read what I was typing and went into a long explanation of “first and 10” and “first down”. But all I heard was the teacher from Peanuts… wha-wah-wha-wah.

Anyway…back to my point….

I look forward to the Super Bowl every year. I love the commercials. I can’t wait to see what the clever folks in advertising came up with this year. Will they top my favorite from last year?

As for the Harbaugh brothers facing each other, pretty interesting. However, I doubt the actual sibling dynamic will be as interesting as the family drama on RHONJ 😉

And the half-time show probably won’t be as entertaining or controversial as Janet’s infamous wardrobe malfunction of 2004. (still love her – if she meant to flash the world or not) The worst thing Beyonce might do…lip sync. Even so, she’ll most likely put on a way better show than The Who, who were clearly performing way past their expiration date.

Why are you watching the big game?

49ers? Ravens? Diehard football fan?

Commercials? Half-time show?

I love Concrete {Treasures} and Antique Sales

I am feeling a bit giddy this evening in anticipation of the annual Memorial Day Weekend SALE at Cross Creek Antiques (Simply Iowa) this weekend.  I plan to be there tomorrow morning at 8am when the sale starts. Barb finds the best antique treasures…and such a variety…truly something for everyone. The “teaser” photos on the Simply Iowa blog and Facebook page are more than enough to entice me to wake up, down a cup of coffee, grab my checkbook, and head to the sale.

I know I won’t be disappointed. I went to the Garden Party sale at the end of March and bought these two amazing treasures for our yard…. I fell in love with the concrete girl the moment I laid eyes on her.

If you are in the area, I think you should check out the Cross Creek Antiques (Simply Iowa)  Memorial Day Weekend SALE… May 25th, 26th, 27th,  and 28th… 8 a.m. ’til Dusk each day…. 101 Williams Blvd. Fairfax, Iowa.

Such a fabulous idea! And an easy to follow tutorial. Can’t wait to make one of these bracelets for myself.

into mind

I got the idea for this DIY from this lovely mixed metal bracelet from Jewelmint. I love how they used rings in different colours and shapes to make a bracelet. I was really sad when I found out that Jewelmint doesn’t ship to Europe, but I figured this is what DIY is all about: making and more importantly improving ready-made things. In this case I am improving the bracelet’s affordability and accessibility :).

I used to hate mixing gold and silver jewellery, I was always very strict about never wearing even the tiniest silver stud with a gold piece . But since I got my piercings (I have three, actually seven if you count those in my ears) and changing out my piercings every time was just too annoying. So lately I’ve really gotten into mixed metal jewellery, like my new favourite necklace.

Here is what you…

Etsy: Fabulous {Shopping}

What do I do while laying in bed with the stomach flu? Sip Gatorade, nibble on saltine crackers, watch re-runs of  “New Adventures of Old Christine”…. and Shop on Etsy.

This adorable red & green Holiday Bloom skirt from Twirl Away  is probably my favorite find of the day. Harper will wear it in her Santa photo session. So adorable! I was tempted to buy a couple more skirts. Instead I added the shop to my favorites and will visit it again soon.

Then, I had to find a tie for Lincoln to wear in the Santa photos. I found several that I liked….polka dots, stripes, snowflakes… but I finally made up my mind. I ordered this red and white damask print tie from The Belle and The Beau.

Then, I found a great Christmas gift purchase…. the Oh Snap Mini Wallet by knitty bitties. Perfect $10 gift for stocking stuffers, Secret Santa exchanges, babysitters, hair stylist/ massage therapist, neighbors, etc.

This Vintage Typewriter Key Bracelet from Keys and Memories was a must-buy. Now I just need to figure out who is going to be the lucky recipient of this funky gift. Maybe my new sister-in-law??

I didn’t buy this sterling silver Christmas Tree Peace ring from Tinahdee, but I did add it to my Favorites list. I love it but just don’t know who to gift it to. My brother??

I didn’t buy this cute and whimsical Ponytail Knit Hat from knitwitwoolies… at least, not yet. But I do believe that Harper needs it.

And then I remembered my favorite Etsy purchase ever…. the damask minky blanket  from Simply Plush  that I bought Harper before she was born. Now, 20 months later…she adores that blanket and takes it EVERYWHERE!! So glad they’re still available, just in case I need a replacement. Or a fabulous baby gift.

Well, all of this online shopping has wore me out. It’s definitely time for a nap and then maybe some chicken noodle soup.
